Pure necessity led me to dust off all I ever learned about designing and creating sets, costumes, lighting, sound, multimedia projections, you name it,
when I began producing theater in San José, Costa Rica, where in spite of being a novice designer myself, I was still often the most experienced.
As we developed our system over the four years I was there, extraordinarily talented collaborators began to appear from all directions: colleagues, students, and parents -- who generously lined up to help with every aspect of the shows.
I had a lot to 'review' -- ok, to learn, about design and construction, but I'm pleased to say our productions grew more elaborate, and our production values higher each semester.
